›› -----------------------› Turbo-Tape Utilities: › -----------------------››This disk contains a lot of Turbo›Tape utilities I have collected›over some years. Unfortunately I›never owned any kind of Turbo Tape,›thus I cannot tell you how they›have to be used or operated. If they›run with this DOS (called Turbo DOS›XL/XE, where Turbo means Engl-1050›or Toms Turbo DISK drive not Turbo›Tape!) be happy. Otherwise try›several alternatives: Try DOS 2.5,›since a few tools will only work›with this DOS version or try any›sort of Gamedos, since most tools›will not work with DOS at all.››If all these tests fail, try to›copy them back onto a tape/cassette.›Most utilities should work then,›however there are surely some files›which will not run on standard tape›recorders but require a turbo tape.›Furthermore as far as I know there›have been and there still are›different turbo tape versions. While›a standard tape runs with 600 Baud,›I have heard of turbo tapes running›with 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600 Baud.›In eastern germany they also had a›turbo tape running with 6000 baud.›All of these tapes were called turbo.››In eastern europe, Czechoslovakia or›Czech Republic, they also developed›a turbo tape called "Turbo 2000". It›is widely known in eastern europe›and I guess it is the standard Atari›data transfer over there (most›Atarians still do not have floppy›drives in eastern europe). As I have›been told, this turbo tape can have›various speeds, meaning the speed›rate can be altered as you or the›program may need it. Quite a lot of›utilities were and still are written›for this device. Even patches of DOS,›Turbo Basic and other tools have been›released for this turbo2000 recorder.››So, if you have a turbo 2000 tool,›try to use it with a turbo2000 tape›recorder. If you find some other›turbo utility, simply hope that you›are lucky and it will work fine with›your DOS, Gamedos, or Turbo Tape.›Otherwise, do not blame me if it›does not, I am merely the one who›collected these files. I did not›program any of them and since I do›not have any turbo tape recorder,›I never use them. But maybe these›turbo files & utilities will be of›some interest in the Atari scene...››
