›BOMBS AWAY!›by Bryan Zillwood›››In issue 10 of Futura, my Minehunter game was published and Bombs Away is of the same genre. The idea of the game is to locate and destroy all of the targets using the minimum number of bombs.››The game screen is a grid of squares and with a joystick you control the movement of the cursor. Press the trigger to drop a bomb and it will fall to the ground destroying any target landed on. A bombing may reveal one of three things: a target (showing a value of one to five), nothing or a compass (marked by a "C").››If a compass is hit then the score bar will change to reveal four numbers labelled N, E, S and W for north, south, east and west respectively. The numbers tell you about the nearest target in the appropriate direction from the compass. If S is shown as 7 then you know that there's a target of value 1 seven squares away to the south. If W is shown as 4 then it could mean that in the west there's a number 2 target two squares away or there could be a number 1 target four squares away. I.e. the compass shows the product of the value and the distance of the nearest target in that direction.››One word of warning, remember what a compass shows before moving off it because the display changes as soon as you do.››In every game there are five 1's, four 2's, three 3's, two 4's and one five to find. Your score is increased by the value of every target you hit but if you hit a compass or nothing then you lose one point. Theoretically the maximum score possible is 35 but the chances of getting that are over 3 million billion to one (thank you Mr Spock!).››Chocks away and successful bombing!
