== PATTERN EDITOR ==

OK, so when you have got sample instrument, you can make with it sample
pattern. But first let's learn about pattern possibilities a bit. Right
after entering pattern editing your keyboard is turned into musical
keyboard (just like in instrument edit) with addidional Space key used
for putting in "empty notes". Clear and Insert keys have the same
functions as in Instrument edit, too - deleting and inserting/copying
patterns). + and * keys with Control change the "Trac" which is
instrument played on. Moving up and down current pattern can be done
with - and + keys, and * and + keys will change pattern to be edited.
Next to patern number there is a sign which means: "-" - pattern is
empty, feel free to edit it, "+" - pattern contains at least one note.

There are some functions which can be done on notes in pattern:
- Control + T - Transposition - you give two parameters: instrument
number and transposition value. It changes notes with given instrument
number by given number of semi-tones. If you want to transpose down
(as it transposes up by default), use transpose value 3F for 1 semitone,
3E for 2 etc. Choose both parameters by pressing - and = keys and accept
with Return.

Second function is Change (Control + X), where you can change instrument
number from first_parameter to second_parameter. You can also change
instruments in another way by pressing Shift+TAB. Now the instrument on
current position in pattern is changed to actually used one (shown in
Instrument edit window).

Next to instrument number these is value "VF", which means that current
instrument plays with F volume. Pressing Shift+V you can change its volume
with keys 0-9 and A-F to the one form 0-F range.

You can also change playing speed (tempo) in pattern. Press Shift+S and
then a key from 1 to F. Note: there is offset in this command according
to real playing speed. Ie. to change speed to 5, press Shift+S and then
4 (not 5 - as it will set the speed to 6). Warning: do not use 0 value,
the program hasn't been finished and value 0 can hang MPT.

Last function in pattern is pattern break. To use it - press Control+F
and 0 (zero). It will break the music on given position on all "Tracs"
and continue with patterns in next line.

OK, so let's make some "music" now...

Go to 01 pattern and let's assume that pattern 00 will be always empty.
Use previously created instrument and enter following key-sequence
NYNYK8K8WOWOWOWO
(enter notes with octave set to 1:2). Now try the speed/tempo command
entering Shift+S and 7 with cursor on positon 00. Next go to 0F position
and enter Shift+F and 0. And finally we transpose whole pattern by 0C
semitones up (one octave up)

Now pattern 01 should look like this:

			|00|G-2 00S7|
			|01|G-3 00VF|
			|02|G-2 00VF|
			|03|G-3 00VF|
			|04|A#2 00VF|
			|05|A#3 00VF|
			|06|A#2 00VF|
			|07|A#3 00VF|
			|08|D-3 00VF|
			|09|D-4 00VF|
			|0A|D-3 00VF|
			|0B|D-4 00VF|
			|0C|D-3 00VF|
			|0D|D-4 00VF|
			|0E|D-3 00VF|
			|0F|D-4 00F0|

Of course you can use more that one instrument in pattern and thus we can
use + and * keys with Shift to change it. With Shift + "-" and Shift + "*"
to change octave (for example our pattern can be made by setting 2:3 octave
first and then entering the notes into pattern, without using transposition).

Now we can play above pattern. By pressing Conrol+P, program will play from
current position in pattern, and with Shift+P it will play from 00 position.
You can break the playng by pressing any key but to avoid "surprises" like
deleting pattern or accidentally pressing some note, use Esc key.

Sometimes the notes in pattern are shifted, and the music plays "crookedly".
You can solve this problem by pressing Shift+Insert, which adds "empty note"
into current posision moving down all the notes below, or Shift+Delete, to
remove note (or "empty note") from current position moving up all the notes
below it. Warning: please pay attention when using above functions, there's
no Undo and you can lose the notes (moving the note over end of pattern cause
to lose it, too!)

OK, so press TAB now and go into...
