== Reading and saving data ==

To save our music from the disaster like switching off the computer
etc., it's good to store it somewhere. You can use for this disk drive
(or equivalent).

From every place in MPT (Voice editor, Pattern Editor, Track Editor)
there is one way to reach upper menu. Just press Control+TAB.

You can move there using + and * keys. Select FILE option and press Return.
Simple menu will appear. Now type S to save your music. To make sure
you save on right disk, enter *.* first to bring up the directory
or filename with "*" (ie. MYMUSIC*.MPT) to shown list of files matching
the mask. Now with - and = keys select desired file and overwrite it.

When the file is saved it's good to read it (or some other music). To do it
enter FILE menu again and press L key. Now give the filename (or do as above
- it works similar in LOAD, except overwriting). Note - to load last saved
file just press Return - the name will be stored in memory.

Warning: MPT isn't very "intelligent" program and it cannot check whether the
file you try to load is "his" or no. At most cases trial of loading wrong
file causes bringing up black screen with white dots. To clear MPT's memory
hold START button and press reset. If it won't help, rebooting of computer
is imminent. Note: to keep order in files use .MPT extensions for music
made by Music Protracker.
