@Pecet Joke of the month? I didn't know Dread on the 500 before, but it is clearly more like the Atari game. Actually I'm wondering why it took so long to have that game on the Amiga.
The black outlined walls could be interesting, as I always propose some 3D level in such games using Gr. 11 for some thermal image view. And, of course there is still a nightvision level waiting to be programmed ;)
Could also be interesting to have that "Mode" on the Atari.
The real pixel resolution of the "walls" is 120x70. Walls are mirrored with some color setting So the walls are actually 120x35 pixels. Piece of cake for Antic.
And the "special" objects could be built with PMg... If you have a closer look at the 3D projection, they seem to trick around the "fish eye" problem, as the projection sometimes do the vice versa.
TRSI looks more like Wolfenstein clone not like Final Assault. By the way - "I´m sure the framerate can be improved. The level editor is almost ready. Final game will come! Cheers, movax."
mlc how could they improve the "fps" ? The walls were already minimized on textures and mirrored ? If you want to go the "Wolf 3D" path, you have to add textures and to remove the mirroring. This will surely NOT help to improve the fps....
Well, the main game on the Atari is Starraiders. The Atari was built to show such games. Rescue on Fractalus...
And in the time when Wolf 3D arrived I have been very sure that "IF an 8 bit can have a real playable Wolf 3D" .... it's the Atari. And, today you see some playable DooM stuff as well. Could you imagine, some "Alternate Reality" game with a dedicated 3D engine? Actually, the Final Assault engine could be used for some "Predator" game. Even if the GTIA modes look rather blocky, it is possible to add some "Head up display" in PMg resolution.
