If in some time .... far far away... someone was able to write a 100% emulation, things would get more and more impressive ;)

    Note: 1 POKEY, 15kHz, 1VBI !!!

    sounds nice Emkay.

What do you consider to be the most disturbing differences between the emulation and the real thing? Maybe the guy behind Altirra would be willing to modify the emulator slightly. Have you tried to provide him with a list of specific problems to solve?

Possibly the POKEY emulation is perfect. The problem is to keep the programming timing as correct as on the original machine. It's also the same dependency on PAL an NTSC machines. But, as it seems, the software control in the emulation is always a little different.
That's why "cancelling" appears in different emulations in different circumstances , while it is always the same on the real thing. If the timing is correct, you can do full repeatable manipulations.

emkay, here we can pinpoint the stuff you talking about I guess. Could you share some short example, say couple sounds or the like? To compare the real thing playing and the emu playing. And to spot the differences in cancelling.

A podzielę się pracą z 2009 roku, z konkursu Do dzisiaj chodzi mi po głowie, bo tamte brzmienia są tak różne od zazwyczaj wykorzystywanych na Atari. Szczególnie te w drugiej części utworu.

Some things won't change , as it seems. It's now 15 Years of RMT and my early "Hardsynth" tests, it made easier to play around with it. But still today no change: No Tracker is available to have all those sounds directly for using in a POKEY tracker.
Analmux's Instruments were based on 16 Bit joined channels, even today no tracker is supporting 16 bit for real note tables , and joined channels.
And my "Hardsyth" is based on the filter voice and the resulting pulse width.
Luckily tunes like the Battle Squadron tune fit to the experiments, so people might easier understand, there is very much left open, just undiscovered.
Actually, a tool to do all the "possible" stuff, would be too big/complex to run on a real machine. So it is better to have a Tool(POKEY Tracker) on the PC for that. The results can be played on the real thing .... then.
But: At 1st, the replaying has to be 100% in the emulation, if the resulting tune has to play correct on the real thing.

Emkay, so how about some file showing the differences between emulation and the real thing you're referring to? Something substantial please.
